Vladimir Putin: Life Coach edited by Robert Sears

We have signed Vladimir Putin: Life Coach, edited by Rob Sears — who compiled the Christmas 2017 hit, The Beautiful Poetry of Donald Trump.

Canongate Senior Commissioning Editor, Hannah Knowles, has acquired World All Language rights from Gordon Wise at Curtis Brown in the new humour title Vladimir Putin: Life Coach, edited by Rob Sears. Offers for Spanish rights have already been made at the London Book Fair, with others expected shortly.

After the success of The Beautiful Poetry of Donald Trump, which has already sold over 67,000 copies in hardback, this brilliant new volume sees Rob Sears offer the wisdom of another of our favourite dictators. With advice on everything from hacking democracy at the parent-teacher association, to annexing territory by claiming communal areas as your personal empire, Vladimir Putin: Life Coach is the guide you need whether you manage a large area of the world’s surface, or simply share a hot-desking space or tea point with co-workers. These are tips drawn from decades of effective elimination of political opponents and strategic manipulation of electoral processes. If they worked in the Kremlin, they can work for you, too.

Rob Sears says: ‘I'm looking forward to showing ordinary folk how to use cunning Putinesque strategies and power plays in their own ordinary lives. Okay, Putin is a dubious role model, but he has tricks up his sleeve which I think should be available to everybody.’

Hannah Knowles says: ‘So thrilled to be working with the utterly ingenious Rob Sears again - even if it does mean going to work in a hazmat suit for the foreseeable future.’

Gordon Wise says: ‘Canongate made Rob’s discovery of Trump’s poetic genius the go-to sophisticated humour hit of last Autumn, selling an enormous number of copies around the world. With his Putin revelations, world domination is assured.’

Rob Sears is a Creative Director at McCann Erickson advertising agency, has written comedy and fiction for McSweeney's and (with his brother Tom) wrote a sitcom for Audible starring Kevin Eldon, Felicity Montagu and Mitch Benn. He lives in Finsbury Park with his wife.

Senior commissioning editor Hannah Knowles acquired world all-language rights from Gordon Wise at Curtis Brown.

The title features important life advice from hacking democracy at the PTA, to annexing territory by claiming communal areas as your personal empire.
