Simon Thorogood, Editorial Director at Canongate, has acquired World rights from Patrick Walsh at PEW Literary to Keggie Carew’s Quicksand Tales.
Quicksand Tales is a wonderful collection of stories of embarrassing, awkward, uncomfortable, regrettable, funny and all-too-relatable moments from Keggie’s life. Thorogood said ‘All of Keggie’s considerable writerly skills are on display in this funny, moving and occasionally poignant quasi-memoir. Her writing here puts me in mind of a female David Sedaris or Geoff Dyer. I’m so pleased that Keggie has come to Canongate with this book.’
Carew said, ‘I’m over the moon that Quicksand Tales will be published by the maverick, innovative, inspiring Canongate, and thrilled to be working with Simon Thorogood, as my editor of these true, terrible, truly terrible tales of my skew-eyed world.’
Keggie Carew is the author of Dadland, which won the Costa Book Awards 2016 in the Biography category.
