Another entertaining collection in Frank Richards’ Billy Bunter series read by Martin Jarvis
In February 1908, the first issue of The Magnet magazine was published. It contained the first appearance of a rotund fictional schoolboy known as ‘The Fat Owl of the Remove’, one William G. Bunter.
And here’s another uproarious fun-packed romp from the pen of the prolific Frank Richards. Billy Bunter makes a surprising appearance in the Remove soccer team when Smithy the Bounder is sacked for the remainder of the term by the draconian captain, Harry Wharton. Cripes! Following the usual order of chaos this leads to the resignation of many members of the team in protest. Meanwhile the Fat Owl of the Remove plots to booby trap Smithy in his study and Harold Skinner has a very similar idea with the exact same bag of flour. Yaroooh! Hilarious scenes abound in Bunter Does His Best in which the obstinacy of Harry Wharton, the blitheness of good old Bob Cherry, the suavity of Smithy, silly old Billy Bunter, lead to a glorious conclusion. But be sure that their irascible form master Mr Quelch always has his gimlet eye upon them all…
Read by award-winning British stage, television and voice actor, Martin Jarvis.
“The story centres on events surrounding the captaincy of the Courtfield football game in which Billy Bunter ends up having to play - with hilarious results.”
