This is a PAPERBACK BOOK. And it is ram-jammed full of poems by KEY. Originally it was conceived and sold as a hardback book. Increasingly KEY has agitated for that brute to be superseded by something more chic; a slimmer, more athletic version that one can slide into a pocket or down a rugby sock. And now here it is.
Within its featherweight pages you will find the vast majority of the same poems as you’ll find in its unwieldy predecessor. Poems skewering such thorny issues as sex, pancakes, footy and vodka. But, in order to drum up renewed interest, KEY has also added a new poem. And there are also seven new introductions. And KEY has also been allowed to waddle round the text with his Lamy fountain pen, altering and updating. Improving. Making everything just so. For this: THE PAPERBACK.

This is the e-version of Key’s most up-to-the-date collection of comprehensive poeticals. Everything from the book is contained in this piece of e, but there are also some trinkets and other little weevils involved that might sugar the pill. These, poems (by award-winning Key) are primarily about love, sex, dreams, death and fruit (strawberries, beans etc). This ebook has come out as a sort of accompaniment to the audiobook and the actualbook because, in truth, if you stop and think about it for ten seconds, this is the way that the book industry is going and we all have to accept that and try and get on with it. I suppose, if we’re being honest with ourselves, it’s probably nicer to have the actualbook in our hands or on our shelves or in a bag full of other books and unwanted clothes to take to the charity shop, but, increasingly, words are found on memory sticks and we have adapt to this and stop looking for people to blame. In case you haven’t had the pleasure of fondling the book itself, you should know that it weighs about three quarters of a kilo, has a photo of Key stood on the cover and is the sort of size that would fit into almost all handbags and almost no purses or pockets.

You’ve got your greedy little claws on Key’s audiobook. It represents the most comprehensive collection of poeticals put together to date. Whichever way you care to look at this, it is pretty much a wall of poems. There are lots of them. Too many maybe. If there’s such a thing as too many poems, which in all likelihood there is. These poems (by award-winning Key) are primarily about love, sex, dreams, death and fruit (strawberries, beans etc). This audiobook has come out as a sort of accompaniment to the actual book. The two are quite similar, except this one’s got snippets of music and the actual book is a bit heavier and can be burned in an emergency. The release of the book, audiobook and ebook in no way tie in with things like ‘demand’ or ‘clamour’ but are more a result of Key having a full English breakfast with the right person at the right time. You shouldn’t feel like you’re taking the easy option by getting the audiobook rather than fronting up and buying the hard copy – some people like to enjoy poetry in the car and Key isn’t the kind of person to suggest you jam the actual book against the steering wheel with your elbow and divide your attention between reading the lovely verse and narrowly avoiding a Prius. No, get the audiobook. By all means, get the audiobook – ideally in addition to the actual book. Cue it up, and get it blaring out whilst you’re doing other things.
