Anthony Bourdain – chef, television presenter and writer – has died

We were very sad to hear of the death of Anthony Bourdain, whose fiction, including the novels Bone in the Throat and Gone Bamboo, we published. He was one of the most influential and respected figures in the world of food, as well as an incredibly talented writer, and it is a great loss that will be felt by many.

“Tony and I met over twenty years ago in New York and I was struck immediately by his humour, warmth, swagger, beauty, vitality and wisdom. He became a very dear friend as well as one of the writers I most enjoyed publishing. I loved him and the shocking news of his suicide today I am still finding hard to believe. He was a wonderful writer, a man with such an infectious joie de vivre, and the idea that this remarkable spirit has been extinguished is an unbearable loss. A very sad and upsetting day.”
